The Soil and Water Conservation Society has been around since 1943. This non-for-profit organization focuses on conservation of soil, water, and other natural resources on land used for agricultural purposes. The Society promotes ways of using land that sustains the inherent productive capacity of the land. A national board of directors serves the organization, and 75 local chapters are active in the U.S. and Canada. They publish a bi-monthly journal, the Journal of Soil and Water Conservation. The Society is hosting an upcoming conference in Oklahoma City, called “Farming with Grass: Achieving Sustainable Mixed Agricultural Landscapes” from October 20th – 22nd.
